Center for Energy Efficiency EnEffect will organise the national conference “Financing Energy Efficiency: The National Building Renovation Plan and the Role of Local Authorities” on 17 March in Sofia, bringing together representatives of national institutions, municipalities, financial institutions, experts and civil society organisations.
A central element of the conference programme will be the presentation and discussion of the draft National Building Renovation Plan, which is currently under preparation in Bulgaria. The event will provide an opportunity to discuss the strategic framework for accelerating building renovation, as well as the role of local authorities and financing mechanisms in supporting its implementation.
In this context, the conference will devote special attention to Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for non-residential buildings, as a core component of the draft plan’s approach to the non-residential building stock and a key instrument under the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). EnEffect will present results from the analytical work carried out under the REDESIGN project, supported by the European Climate Initiative (EUKI), including insights on possible approaches for implementing MEPS and on the role of step-by-step renovation pathways in supporting the progressive decarbonisation of non-residential buildings. These approaches have also been taken into account in the preparation of the draft National Building Renovation Plan.
The conference will bring together a broad range of stakeholders to exchange views on policy priorities, financing approaches and practical solutions for advancing building renovation in Bulgaria.
